When I was young, on clear days in late August we could see the CF Snowbirds flying in the wild blue yonder ....

A CANADIAN ISSUE - CF SNOWBIRDS

Summertime always brings back memories of the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition), which hits town the last three weeks before Labour Day every year. When I was very young my family and I walked to where the Labour Day Parade passed since it was just around the corner and we watched all those Union Men with their banners and men with kilts and bagpipes walking past us to reach The Princess Gates. We also sat outside to watch the fireworks since it was a clear view from our house.

When I was five we moved out of that area and we found ourselves not too far from the ~Downsview Canadian Forces Base~. Although we lost the parade and fireworks from the CNE, we had the honour of watching the ~Canadian Forces Snowbirds~ practice their maneuvers every year before the ~CNE Air Show~.

Towards the end of August when we heard all that noise and rumbling coming from the sky the whole neighbourhood ran outside to watch the Snowbirds up above and my family sat and watched and wondered if anyone we knew was up there flying those planes. After all, we have several family members in the Canadian Forces.
